A Sketchbook, Some Uncertainty, and a Surprising Return to Colour

What if what you’ve been missing isn’t lost — just waiting to meet you in a different form?

I arrived at my first travel sketching class with a new sketchbook, packed brushes, and a quiet kind of readiness. The room buzzed with unfamiliar faces and talk of primary and secondary colours — more theory than I’d expected. But soon, something clicked.

Orange. Violet. Green.
Shadows that breathe. Layers that listen.

Sometimes what we’re looking for isn’t lost – just waiting to meet us in a different form.

As the afternoon unfolded, my sketchbook shifted — looser shapes, more intention, a rhythm I remembered from years ago. Not lost after all — just waiting.

In that shared space, I found a new way of seeing… and a gentle reminder: we don’t have to go it alone.

Here’s a glimpse of that day:

Flat lay of a black rounded corner sketchbook on a warm wooden board, with the title: Brushes packed. Sketchbook new. A bit unsure – but curious.
